You Do You!

Leave Them in Your Wake
When we dream and share those dreams with others, the response isn’t always positive.
Author Wayne Dyer has a wonderful analogy on this topic. He equates our lives to being in a boat and watching the wake it leaves behind as it moves through the water. He explains that the wake is not what powers us through life, it is merely what we leave behind–our history–where we have been.
So think of working towards your dreams and goal like a boat ride. On occasion, those who have made their own wake think they can predict or guide you as you prepare to leave the dock. They’ll say things like, “That’s never been done before,” or “We’ve always done it this way,” or “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Remember–that’s their wake, not yours!
Have you ever thought that maybe it’s best to keep your dreams to yourself? Maybe something you want to achieve isn’t understood by others. The best way to guard yourselves from this negativity is simple: don’t tell them! It’s not necessary to tell anyone what you are doing or planning. If your plan is radical, they probably wouldn’t understand anyway.
So live your dream. Plan it, execute it, keep it to yourself, and enjoy it, and create your own wake!
